MLO 3: Secondary Culture
Outcomes:
3.1. Students describe concepts of culture and use that understanding in their comparison of the target culture with second culture.
3.2. Students will analyze and make connections between the perspectives, ways of thinking, behavioral practices, and cultural products of a second culture.
Reflective Narrative:
I found that Japanese and English are different in the way of thinking, as well as the grammar. For example, if I have to turn down my friends invitation in going to a party, Japanese people tend to tell the reasons first. Then they would say "...So I cannot go". I have heard that Americans want to know yes/no first. Therefore, I tried to say my conclusion and then explain
the reason. It enabled me to communicate with my American friends more smoothly.
